About the Journal

Published by the Instituto Mexicano de Tecnología del Agua (IMTA), Tecnología y ciencias del agua is a highly specialized bimonthly journal that focuses on two relevant aspects:

  • The interdisciplinary nature of published manuscripts
  • The international scope of its authors, editors, reviewers and readers

Objective

The objective of Tecnología y ciencias del agua is to disseminate and establish current scientific and technological knowledge through the publication of original, unpublished, and innovative contributions in the field of water. The journal aims to serve as a bridge between cutting-edge research and the search for solutions to complex global water problems, while consolidating the Instituto Mexicano de Tecnología del Agua (IMTA) as a benchmark and centre of knowledge.

Scope

It is aimed at researchers, academics, professionals and decision-makers interested in finding solutions to water-related problems at the national, regional, and international scales.

Its content is interdisciplinary, consisting of unpublished articles that provide original scientific and technological contributions, developed within the following thematic areas related to water resources:

  • Natural sciences:
    • Water and Energy (hydroelectric power, the water-energy nexus, energy efficiency in water systems, etc.)
    • Water quality and treatment (biological indicators, physicochemical indicators, water reuse, water purification, wastewater treatment, etc.)
    • Hydro-agricultural sciences (hydro-agricultural infrastructure, irrigation modernization, fertigation, etc.)
    • Water management (measuring devices, distribution networks and systems, water footprint, water harvesting systems, etc.)
    • Hydrology (surface water, groundwater, oceans, ocean currents, waves, etc.)
    • Hydraulics (hydraulic systems, dams, canals, fluid mechanics, etc.)
  • Social sciences:
    • Water conflicts, water justice, the human right to water, water governance, public perception, communities, public policy, water economics, water management, water security, etc.

It follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process.

Receives articles on an permanent basis, in spanish or english, and has authors from various countries across five continents.

It is registered in various international indexes and repositories, such as the Journal Citation ReportSJR Scimago JournalScopusIndex Copernicus International Journals Master List, DOAJ, AGRIS (FAO), Dialnet, Scielo Mexico, and Latindex, among others.

It is managed by an Editorial Board consisting of an editor-in-chief, section editors, a technical secretary and an editorial coordinator, all of whom belong to both national and international institutions. The Board's role is to manage the journal and make decisions to ensure its quality and excellence as a vehicle for disseminating knowledge on water matters.
