About the Journal

Edited by the Instituto Mexicano de Tecnología del Agua, Tecnología y ciencias del agua is a highly specialized journal that responds to two relevant aspects:

The interdisciplinary sense of its articles and notes.
The international scope of its authors, editors, reviewers and readers.

It constitutes the continuity of the journals Irrigación en México (1930-1946); Ingeniería hidráulica en México (1947-1971); Recursos hidráulicos (1972-1978), and Ingeniería hidráulica en México, segunda época (1985-2009).

It is aimed at researchers, academics and professionals interested in the search for solutions to water-related problems.

Its content is interdisciplinary, integrated with articles and unpublished notes, which provide original scientific and technological contributions, and which are developed within the field of knowledge of disciplines such as:

-Water and energy.
-Water quality.
-Hydroagricultural sciences.
-Political and social sciences.
-Water management.
-Hydrology.
-Hydraulics.

It is governed by a rigorous arbitration process, which establishes that each paper is analyzed separately by three reviewers. High-level experts of recognized national and international prestige in their professional field participate in this process, with the capacity to evaluate, in a reliable and expeditious manner, both the quality and the original contributions, as well as the degree of scientific and technological innovation of the material submitted for possible publication.

An average of about 50% of its authors belong to foreign institutions, such as Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Spain, United States, France, Greece, Italy, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay and Venezuela, among others.

It is registered in several national and international indexes and abstracts. It appears in the Journal Citation Report and in the SJR Scimago Jpurnal & Country Rank of Scopus, as well as in the Catalog of Mexican Science and Technology Journals of the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología.

It has an Editorial Board, made up of an editor-in-chief, several editors by subject, a technical secretary, and an editorial coordinator, all of them from national and foreign institutions. The function of the Board is to lead the journal, guaranteeing its quality and excellence as an organ for the dissemination of knowledge on water.

Its Editorial Committee is made up of outstanding personalities from the world of science and technology in various fields of knowledge from Mexico and abroad. It currently has 82 members from 15 countries.

It is published bimonthly.
